Miscellaneous Ramblings...

My previous posts have pretty much brought my story up to date. New posts will be at the mercy of current events as they unfold. Nothing much will happen until I make up my mind just what it is that I want to happen. And so in the mean time I will attempt to jot down whatever comes to mind so as to pass the time you might say. I do know not much will happen until the weather dries up a bit. And so for now this will have to do.
So. What's been on my mind? After writing at some length regarding my trailer, said mind tends to wander. It wanders to far off places such as where do I want to live and how do I intend to make a living? On occasion it will stop off at such topics as do I really want to build a trailer or would I simply be better off buying an RV, or wouldn't I be better off scrapping the whole crazy notion and looking for an apartment? Hmmm... It would appear that I have a lot of work to do.

  1. Hi Pete-
Cool blog, I saw the link on TinyHouseBlog.com and wanted to check it out. I am thinking about building some sort of small, portable living environment and this looks like a pretty good bet. It appears that you don't have a restroom - are you in that sense 'tethered' to either a friend's house you can use, or someplace far enough into nature that it doesn't matter? Or am I mistaken?

Thanks, keep up the good work!!

  2. Also found you via the Tiny House blog. Look forward to following your blog and seeing your future plans. Here's one suggestion amongst a ton of possibilities, I've come across some rather novel re-uses of old campers - some of which can be had dirt cheap if not free if you look a bit. Though it could be a big project if you go whole hog, it allows you to put your own stamp on things! Your current little house suggests to me that you'd be pretty creative with such a project! Here's a post I made about a couple of projects I found (Feel free to delete the link it you'd like!).

Take care and will be reading your future posts!

  3. Hi Sam, I am indeed tethered to my friends house. At present I only use the trailer for sleeping. I use a porta-potty for camping trips however I have found bathroom facilities can be found in all but the most remote camping situations. And if you are ever in the greater seattle area I can give you some great taco leeds :)
Mark, thanks for the ideas. I am open to any and all ideas right now. My only stipulations are that it be cheap and it needs to be light weight. My truck only has a 4cyl. so I would like whatever I end up with to be under 2000#s.

  4. Pete - those campers re-used in the link I posted were both pop-ups originally! I don't know what the more involved one ended up weighing (it was lightly built but full of amenities), but it's definitely one of those things where you'd get to determine what your project ended up weighing in the end since you'd decide everything that went in, not unlike your current rig! I've seen used trailers locally (admittedly in not great shape) for a few hundred. I've heard of people finding them for free on Craigslist. That's probably a watch and wait situation, though!

    Good luck!

  5. Sweet blog! I wouldn't mind down sizing to a rickshaw....Not the real kind, but the restaurant.
